Hawaii State School Readiness Assessment
Link to the Hawaii State School Readiness Assessment

The School Readiness Task Force, in partnership with the Department of Education, Kamehameha Schools and Good Beginnings Alliance, has developed the Hawaii State School Readiness Assessment (HSSRA). The instrument was designed for both school and system level use to assess whether children enter school ready to succeed and whether schools are prepared to receive those children.

School results will be important for each school's Standards Implementation Design (SID), and for transition planning.

Summary of Schools' Early Education Profile
Offers background information on elementary schools and the school's early childhood policies and practices.

Summary of Kindergarten Class Profile
Shows the proportion of entering kindergarten children who consistently display key characteristics and skills considered important to successful early learning experiences.

Benchmark
Shows how many kindergarten classes consistently display key skills and characteristics and how many schools have well established early childhood policies and procedures.

Profiles
There are three different types of profiles; State, Complex Area, and Individual Schools. The reports are organized by Island, District, Complex Area, and Individual Schools.

State Profile - This profile offers aggregated school level information and a description of institutional policies and practices that support the success of young children in the early grades. The entering class profile contains statewide data on whether entering students display the key skills and characteristics necessary for successful educational experiences.

Complex Profile - This profile offers background information on the school and a description of the institution's policies and practices that support the success of young children in the early grades. The entering class profile contains data on whether entering students display the key skills and characteristics necessary for successful educational experiences. This information is both compressed into accessible categories and provided in a disaggregated format.

School Profile - School level data are compiled on: Key educational policies and practices that support children as they enter school and the level of skills and characteristics children possess as they enter school. This information is then reported both individually and summarized by key dimensions.

You will need Acrobat Reader to view the report. If you don't have it, download it for free by clicking on the button below. Please note that problems printing PDF files may be due to use of older versions of Acrobat Reader. We recommend that the most current version be used.

*Incomplete surveys or error messages are caused by schools that partially complete the HSSRA instrument.
